Why are there so few videos on LinkedIn?
I like to say...
Web video isn’t about perfection, it’s about connection.
If LinkedIn is all about our professional connections, I would think people would be dying to get video on LinkedIn. I can't think of a better way for us to connect deeper with our contacts.
You see, during the last week in January 2016, Facebook announced that they’re serving up over 100M video hours per day. I bet LinkedIn doesn't even register for displaying video.
So what’s holding people back? Well, I think they’re 3 reasons.
Writing a Pulse post, just like crafting a video, does take a little time. Well, if you do them right.
But when I think about all the time we spend prospecting, going to networking events, or preparing for presentations, I think it makes sense to have our content working for us 24/7 on LinkedIn.
Publishing on LinkedIn is easy and shouldn't be a barrier.
And, they’ve even made inserting video into posts drop dead easy.
I think the main reason is FEAR! I think people are afraid to put themselves out there – in front of their peers, their customers, and their prospects.
They’re afraid of public ridicule.
But we have to get over that because I think LinkedIn is the ideal place for us to build authority. And, I believe with the right knowledge, we can conquer the fear.
